Boarding House Renovation: Northbrook Common Room, Godalming, Surrey
Charterhouse School
In 2022, Charterhouse welcomed girls from the age of 13 into the school, and Nikki was honoured to be commissioned to design the common rooms for the two new girls’ boarding houses. Northbrook is a brand-new house with beautiful views across the playing fields and a magnificent outlook towards Founder’s Court. The brief was to create a welcoming and versatile space where students can relax, study, and socialise in a comfortable, home-from-home environment.
The Northbrook house colour was thoughtfully incorporated throughout the design, adding a subtle sense of identity and warmth. Tactile fabrics and soft furnishings were layered with hand-selected furniture that combines comfort with the durability required for a busy boarding setting.
